Support Digital Citizenship for Hawai’i Students!
Nearly every child under 8 in America (98 percent) has access to a mobile device at home, and youth represent 1 in 3 internet users worldwide.
Those kids have access to a world of information and entertainment, but they need to be smart about how they protect themselves. When schools commit to teaching digital citizenship, they offer students the skills they need to protect themselves online.e.
SB 2070 will bring together students, educators, parents, experts, and community members to identify best practices for harnessing the incredible opportunities tech presents as well recommend how to incoporate digital citizenship lessons into their educational experience. This will help these students manage the threats they encounter online, from cyberbullying to privacy breaches, identity theft, and false information.
SB 2070 will give kids the tools and knowledge to safely, responsibly, and effectively harness the power of technology whether in public schools, charter schools, or Hawaiian language immersion schools.
