I found the movie touching and brilliant in its display of life in the 50s, but trying to tackle TWO major themes of homosexuality AND racism made it feel contrived and trivialized. It would have been a much better film if they had focused more on the relationships between Moore and her husband and gardener and not tried to make a social statement about racism and homosexuality.
I would NOT want my 13 year old to see this film.
Nostalgia, the good ol' days, when the USA gave everyone hell. When the buck stopped somewhere and you could still buy something with it. A time when movies were in black and white, and so was everything else.
