For Mature Kids and Teens

This movie was really interesting. It focused on a teen girl who was kind of obsessed with male anatomy, and altogether decided to get revenge on men who molested her and another person (I'm trying not to give away spoilers). There is some sex in the movie, though it isn't graphic. There is also some swearing and talk of sex, which is pretty normal for a lot of teen girls. One thing parents may want to be aware of is that the main girl draws penises quite a lot in her notebook. They're not really done for sexual pleasure it seems, more as a memory book type thing. All in all, this is a good movie to teach teens to love themselves and their friends, and to not allow anyone to do anything to them that they don't want. It's kind of odd and offbeat, but inspiring in a weird way.

Flower

I believe that this movie is appropriate for anyone who is in Middle School upwards since the title character herself stated in the film that she gained her skills in Middle School and academic research bears this out as well. Zooey Deutch is also an excellent actress as she successfully pulls off being a 17-yr-old, though she is really 23-years-old (as of the release date). This book also deals with issues common in YA litereature, such as Forever by Judy Blume. It is basically a coming of age film in which the title character decides when and with whom to be deflowered (thus the eponymous name of the film). It also shows the quite manipulative behavior of teens in this age range. Overall, the movie is outstanding and should probably be required viewing for mature 12 year olds, but definitely 13 yrs and up.
