Excellent Directorial Debut

The film was smart and featured great performances. It was both gripping and frequently perceptive.

Low budget but high on acting

Leo portrays a very specific type of woman: the kind of person who looks like they're about to give it all up because the world has repeatedly knocked them down, but she knows for her kids she has to keep going. She's a fearless but also flawed lady that has several depths to her, along with her reluctant partner Lila, an Indian, who knows more than her fair share of unfairness. The movie isn't exactly a survivor movie like "Cast Away's" a survivor movie, but with the awful hand they've been dealt these women just have to persevere and work twice as hard as anyone else. It's a fairly gripping character study and solid thriller towards the climax.
