What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Hellboy is a reboot of the sci-fi superhero series based on the graphic novels about a demonic antihero. Brought to earth as a young demon conjured by Rasputin and Nazis during World War II, Hellboy (David Harbour, Stranger Things) was rescued by Professor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane), who raised him as his son. Now, Hellboy is one of the good guys, despite his sarcastic tone, bright red appearance, and powerful "Right Hand of Doom." He's called to London through his job at Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense in order to stop an evil witch who wants to destroy the world. The 2004 Hellboy movie directed by Guillermo Del Toro combined dark humor with frightening imagery, and even though this version remakes Hellboy's origin story, the vibe will likely be the same. Expect plenty of violence, demonic imagery, and swearing.
