Sentimental drama is well acted but too mature for tweens.

Very real...good message

I thought it had a needed message..that dysfunctional families can deal with their pasts and heal and have love & respect for each other bringing bonds that may never have been if they hadn't honestly faced their difficult times and perhaps missed out on a blessing by staying in denial or untruths about their past or relationships...I thought it had a good message.

14 and up.

people like us is a great drama movie stars with Chris pine from the movie star trek but this drama movie has heavy themes such as adultery, abandonment, and the loss of a father that maybe too much for your young kids kids to handle and parents you need to know that people like us has some mild violence some brief sexuality some strong language used and some drinking used overall this movie does have a positive message about the power of family, particularly brother-sister relationships.

people like us:)

i really liked this movie! sam is a good role model, although he makes a few mistakes throughout the movie. and frankie is just trying to do the best for her son. there was some language including the F word like twice. and frankie and her friend obviously do "it" but absolutely nothing is shown it's just obvious. the violence wasn't really a problem either, just a few punches here and there between different characters. and frankie works at a bar and is a recovered alcoholic but there isn't really any drinking. overall it's a great movie and i loved it. it will make you laugh, cry, etc.

fun and exiting

this movie deals with average family issues like standard arguments and school problems. besides in the beginning which has an exploding pool scene there is little violence throughout the film. young kids may have a problem with the love scenes or the minor language. but older kids have heard it before and will laugh out loud.

Touching story about family

CONTENT: Violence- one fight. A boy blows up a pool. A violent scene in a hotel room. Thematic elements throughout. A woman slaps a man. Sex- an extremely brief and supprising sex scene. Nothing graphic glimpsed. One woman is said to be promiscuous. Language- 1 middle finger. A kid says, "I'm not your f**king lawyer". Douche,sh*t, d**k, pr*ck, damn, and hell are all used numerous times. Drugs- two characters smoke medical drugs MY RATING/// PG-13 for sexual content, strong language, sexuality, thematic material, and drug use

I tried to like it

The story of this movie is good but the movie they could've done a better job. This movie stars Chris pine and Elizabeth banks it is also based on a true story. This movie is more for mature Tweens there is some sexuality and younger kids Will probably just think it is boring.

Heart-Warming Drama the Family Will Love

This was a good drama. You get to see the bonding of a family and developing friendships. You also see the consequences of lies. There is minor language and brief violence. The young boy is troubled and causes some trouble you do not want your child doing, but there is nothing a mature eleven or twelve year old can't handle. It is definitely okay for a thirteen year old. My ten year old brother saw this and it was fine for him. This is not the type of movie young kids will act based upon the doings in the movie or tend to say "i wanna do that." This is a heart-warming drama with a positive message and outcome that you will love.
