This movie series, based on possibly the best fantasy epic trilogy of all time, does a fantastic job of living up to the books. Though, as with all movies based on books, there are details left out, those who read the book will most likely feel that it has been done justice. The action is very well done, but it is intense, and perhaps too much for younger viewers.
This has possibly the most battles of the three, which is why it has earned my pause. Though the violence is much, for older viewers (preteen and older) it is fascinating to watch, and has its humorous spots. Gandalf and other characters smoke pipes, but it is very fitting with the lore. Strider kisses Arwen, and the orcs and Uruk-hai are no less gruesome than before. It has wonderful characters, each has a separate personality. There is a strong woman character portrayed, Eowyn, while the different races work together, even though some (the Elves and Dwarves) are rather fussy about each other.
Despite some of this, this is a truly fantastic movie, and is best to show the movie to preteens at youngest. Though the younger ones may be able to handle the violence, they will not be able to understand the incredible story, unless they are mature for their age.
An absolute moust see.
