There's a lot of teen appeal in this fast-paced documentary from rapid-fire images of memes and loads of social media, gaming, and news footage. But while it adds a lot of eye candy to The New Americans: Gaming a Revolution, it also takes away from thorough, easy-to-understand explanations of the various topics it takes on. Exploring a few aspects of individual investing, for example, or cryptocurrency, digital living, or gamification would deepen understanding and offer a chance to convey messages about pros and cons very clearly. Instead, the filmmakers try to take all this on and more, creating a broad, shallow look at questions that deserve a lot more attention.
