Positive messages

Grande powerfully sings, "I only want to die alive / Never by the hands of a broken heart / Don't want to hear you lie tonight" and "I'm stronger than I've been before." She won't let a broken heart keep her down.

Positive role models

Grande sings about breaking free from a former flame and celebrates her independence with lyrics such as "This is the part when I say I don't want ya / I'm stronger than I've been before / This is the part where I break free." Ariana Grande is both a successful Nickelodeon star and a pop sensation who isn't afraid to experiment with different musical genres. She's worked with plenty of big-name artists such as Iggy Azalea, Mac Miller, and, on this single, Zedd. Her full-length album also features collaborations with Big Sean, Childish Gambino, and ASAP Ferg.

What's the story?

BREAK FREE (FEAT. ZEDD) is the second single from Ariana Grande's 2014 album My Everything. The song premiered on a special one-day revival of the MTV show Total Request Live called "Total Ariana Live." Grande has stated that the "Break Free" music video was inspired by her love of science fiction including Star Wars and Jane Fonda's sci-fi film Barbarella.

Is it any good?

Teaming up with popular EDM DJ and producer Zedd was a smart move for Ariana Grande and her meteoric rise as a pop star. Her powerful Mariah Carey-like vocals shine just as much on this catchy dance track as they do on her old-school R&B songs. Although this tune isn't as memorable as Zedd's previous radio-ready hits such as "Clarity" and "Stay the Night," its pulsating beats and positive messages may be enough for "Break Free" to become Grande's next big summer jam.

Break Free.

Break Free is a song by Ariana Grande, feat Zedd. Many people may think it's going to be a inoporcriate song, but it's actually not. The only reason I'm saying it's better for kids 9 and up is because of Ariana Grande. Many parents don't trust her until their kids are older. And, that's a good idea! A few of her songs, mostly the videos, are a little inoprocriate. Good song, though!
