Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that "Give Me All Your Luvin'" is a pretty tame pop single -- especially considering it's by Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A. The song does contain a few lyrics about drinking wine and sex ("sleeping on me" and "tricks"), along with a couple of bleeped-out profanities ("s--t"). Otherwise, the track tells a tame tale about having an honest romantic relationship, making it an OK pick for older kids.

What's the story?

One of the biggest pop stars of all time is back with a new single: "Give Me All Your Luvin,'" the debut track from Madonna's 12th studio album, MDNA. After years of releasing the sexiest songs in the business, Madonna tones it down considerably in this tune -- spending most of the track convincing a love interest to engage in a truthful relationship with her. The music queen gets an assist here from two contemporary rap princesses, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.

Is it any good?

When describing her new album, Madonna has said that she wanted to make something to dance to -- and this track fits the bill. While it doesn't break any new ground, the upbeat cheerleader hook and creative guest spots from Minaj and M.I.A. make the song well suited for club rotation.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can talk about how Madonna has managed to stay relevant after decades in the music business.

  • Why would younger artists like Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. want to work with Madonna, despite successful careers of their own?

  • How has Madonna's music both changed and stayed the same over the years? Do you like it better or worse now? Why?

Fun tune has some iffy lines.

This song does not have a bad message, nor does it contain any actual swears or drinking content. The song is mainly about love, yet there are one or two sexual lines that make it for tweens and up. There are lines like "sleeping on me" and "break him off tricks", but nothing more than those two lines.
