What's the story?

Coco Jones rose to Disney fame after she won Radio Disney's Next Big Thing (NBT) contest and then starred in the TV movie, Let It Shine. "HOLLA AT THE DJ" is her first single as a Hollywood Records artist, and keeps a catchy, cool dance-club beat. The video features Jones dancing Beyonce-style in black and white.

Is it any good?

Coco Jones has some powerhouse vocals that will knock your socks off and a smile that can light up the dance floor better than a disco ball.  "Holla at the DJ" is an engaging dance track that mixes techno beats and smooth, synth-pop, giving it a fresh sound. The song is all about dancing and contains no references to the club scene, so it's fine for kids.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can talk about young teens and kids in showbiz. Do you think kids this age are prepared for a life in the spotlight? Why or why not?

  • What would be the best thing about being a famous teen? What would be some of the drawbacks?

  • Jones got her big break after winning a contest. Do you think these shows find real talent? Do you think these stars would otherwise make it as professional singers without the help of a contest?

Like Mommy's Fav Radio Disney Song!!!

I absolutely love this song!!! I bought it on iTunes for myself (which was hilarious to my daughters aged 11, 10, 8, 5, & 4)! Whenever it comes on Radio Disney or out iTunes player, it gets cranked way up! The beat and vocals are awesome, and the message is just fun. It's like a club song for kids who can't even spell club! Love it!
