What's the story?

\"I LOVE YOU THIS BIG\" is the first single from Scotty McCreery, the young 2011 American Idol winner with the man-sized country sound. In keeping with the wholesome, down-home persona that McCreery displayed throughout the entire Idol contest, this song is nothing but a squeaky-clean, simple ballad about a guy who's fallen hard for the girl of his dreams and vows to remember to remind her of his affections years into the future. It's an appropriate tune for audiences of any age.

Is it any good?

From his mature-sounding vocals alone, you'd never guess that McCreery is a mere teenager. The classic country slide guitar and female harmonies in this track complement his exceptional pipes, resulting in a track that's sure to be snapped up by the many fans he gained through the Idol season.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about McCreery's new Idol title and how his life will change after winning the show. What are some of the immediate and longer term changes that might take place in his life?

  • What advice would you give to McCreery as his new music career takes off? Do you think he'll be as successful as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood?
