Educational value

Songs are about unconditional friendship, being grateful for those around you, and finding joy in others' happiness. Some songs are interactive, and one even counts up and down by tens.

Positive messages

Family-friendly messages about helping friends in need, respecting and appreciating others' quirks, and the fun that comes from being surrounded by great companions.

Positive role models

Minnie and the Clubhouse cast are truly a great display of enduring friendship, and they aren't shy about sharing the benefits of keeping good company. Minnie maintains the cutesy, style-savvy personality she's always been known for, but may surprise, and even inspire, listeners when singing about her hobbies in the great outdoors.

Soundtrack promotes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse series. Minnie and friends also advertise her "bowtique," which may encourage children to take interest in purchasing similar fashion bows that are common in many local Disney stores.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Minnie’s Favorites is a collection of songs taken mostly from Disney Junior's television series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, including three new songs performed by Minnie in addition to other tracks by the Clubhouse cast (Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, etc.). To make this children’s collection bearable for more mature listeners, a few songs feature the Grammy Award-winning group They Might Be Giants. This alternative band gives parents a break from the performing Disney characters that seem to make up the majority of this squeaky-clean CD.

What's the story?

Avid viewers of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse might be more familiar with the songs on this soundtrack and, in some cases, the dances that come with them ("Hibiscus Hula"). MINNIE'S FAVORITES covers a wide array of topics and has at least one track that can appeal to almost any of its young listeners according to their general interests. Minnie and the rest of the Clubhouse cast sing songs about unconditional friendship, being grateful for those around you, and finding joy in others' happiness. Songs like "Rainbow Colors" and "Mickey's Countdown" encourage listener interaction and have a more apparent educational value to them. The latter has Mickey counting up, down, and even by tens, which may be more appropriate for the audience's advanced learners.

Is it any good?

This Walt Disney Records-released soundtrack remains loyal to the classic bouncy and upbeat personalities of Minnie and the Clubhouse crew. The variety of song subjects that this collection covers works very well in terms of the "Minnie’s favorites" theme. Highlights include "Minnie’s Bowtique," "I'm a Friend, You’re a Friend," and "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Theme" -- all tracks that are easy to sing and dance along to.

There's no one song that is overly didactic or painstakingly preachy on this soundtrack; instead, in true Disney fashion, lessons are taught by example. The genuine appreciation for each other is very apparent among the Clubhouse cast and has the potential to be easily emulated by young listeners and their friends.
