What's the story?
One Direction is racing up the charts in the United States after speedy success with their single "What Makes You Beautiful" from the album Up All Night. The five-member boy band, hailing from England and Ireland, sing about young love in "ONE THING." The Beatles-flavored video features the quintet gallivanting around London and all its landmarks, acting silly and incredibly charming.
Is it any good?
The beautiful boys of One Direction are making young girls scream and swoon from the U.K to the U.S. Like their album, Up All Night, the snappy music and sweet lyrics of "One Thing" show why this band appeals to giddy girls and even parents too. Singing "Get out, get out, get outta my head, and fall into my arms instead," one's thing's for sure -- these dapper gents won't be wearing out their welcome here anytime soon.
Talk to your kids about ...
Families can talk about whether it's necessary for teen music to have mature content and language to be popular. Do you think music can still be successful, especially hip-hop or rap, if the language is clean and appropriate for younger ages?
The Beatles were a British import like no other before or since. Do you think a band will ever reach their level of stardom and success?
Like The Beatles, One Direction comes from the United Kingdom. Do you think bands/singers from other countries are more appealing or have a better chance of success?
