Sassy, bluesy-pop song about cheating isn't graphic.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that "Rumour Has It" is another powerful commentary about relationships and how they can go wrong from the sweet and sassy Adele. There are some implications of cheating and messing around with someone who is taken, but in the end the singer sees the light and moves on without him. Other than the mature theme, there's nothing inappropriate for kids here.

What's the story?

On the heels of a series of hits like "Rollin' in the Deep" and "Someone Like You," Adele packs a punch with "RUMOUR HAS IT." The drum-driven bluesy-pop single about deciding to leave an unhealthy relationship lets the singer show her strength, sassiness, and gift for making songs you love to sing.

Is it any good?

QUALITY

It's hard to believe that anything could top "Someone Like You," "Rollin' in the Deep," or "Set Fire to the Rain," but Adele's blues-kickin' "Rumour Has It" raises the bar and proves why this brazen beauty can spit fire and make you cry all in one song. As she sings, "Bless your soul, you've got your head in the clouds / You made a fool outta me / And, boy, you're bringing me down," it's easy to picture a pencil-skirt-wearing Adele ready to kick the dirt up in a lover's face as she turns on her heels and walks away. Once again, Adele proves why she should be the reigning queen of poetry put to music, and rumour has it, she is.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can talk about the enduring allure of Adele. What makes her and her music so relevant and popular today? Is it her voice, the lyrics, the music? Or the overall package?

  • What does it mean to be in a healthy relationship? What are some signs that could mean potential trouble in a relationship? Does Adele do a good job writing about some of these issues in her songs?

  • Why are so many pop songs about relationships? Do other genres focus on this topic, too?

Not for kids.

The Rumour is True. Not for Kids. Sex is in it. Cheating meant the song gives the person STD's.
