"Stay the Night (feat. Hayley Williams)" (CD Single)

Pulsing dance track about having a fling isn't explicit.

What parents need to know

Positive messages

The song is about having a fling, which isn't the best message for kids.

Positive role models

Paramore singer Hayley Williams has stayed a pretty positive role model during her music career, keeping a low profile and performing mostly tween-friendly tracks with her band.

The song references lighting things on fire but is meant to symbolize passion, not actual violence: "I am fire. Gasoline, come pour yourself all over me / We'll let this place go down in flames only one more time."

The track is about sleeping together without wanting a lasting relationship: "Are you gonna stay the night / Doesn't mean we're bound for life." Although the lyrics aren't explicit, they're pretty sexual.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that DJ Zedd has joined up with Paramore singer Hayley Williams on the dance track "Stay the Night." Although the song doesn't have any iffy language or references to drugs and alcohol, the sexual theme of the song makes it best for older tweens and up.

What's the story?

Russian-German DJ and producer Zedd has joined up with Paramore singer Hayley Williams on a dance-pop single about having one last fling. Similarly to Zedd's song "Clarity," which featured British singer Foxes, the track highlights Williams' powerful vocals interspersed with pulsing dance beats.

Is it any good?

STAY THE NIGHT is a solid dance hit that will surely be on heavy rotation at clubs. It has everything a successful dance-pop track needs: heavy synth, pulsing bass, and powerhouse vocals. Sadly, it's missing that certain something the eerily similar Zedd hit "Clarity" had. After the Foxes collaboration, which was oddly compelling in its disjointed mix, "Stay the Night" sounds repetitive and one-dimensional. If "Clarity" hadn't already come out, this might have been a huge win for Zedd. As it is, it feels like a rerun.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can discuss Zedd's collaborations with Hayley Williams. What do you think she adds to the track?

  • Which Zedd collaboration do you like better: "Stay the Night," or "Clarity," which features British singer Foxes?

This song needs an iffy 16 Rating. However Malaysian's wouldn't use it. They will ban a lot of stuff. Look at .MY ratings & most of them are (Not for Kids). That's how Malaysian's are with that.

Stay the Night (CD Single) Review: Positive Message 0/10: None. Positive Role Model 0/10: Hayley Williams stay with your group Paramore. Because is all about the Fling (Sex). Nothing Positive here. Violence 0.3/10: The song references lighting things on fire. Sex 6/10: All about the Fling with the person wants to Stay the Night. Plus this song is sexual. Language 0.2/10: Fling which kids shouldn't use. Consumerism 2/10: Haley Williams from Paramore is on this song & she sings it. Drinking, Drugs, & Smoking 0/10: None. My Content Overall is 8.5/50: WOW! What a low number for a song about sex. I thing is song could be singing. "Could you just Stay the Night". Why would they. If you think this song is a good song. I have those Malaysian's talking. Oops they can't do it. I just forgot about that.

Cool song with cool beat!

This song has a cool beat! I like songs by DJs. I didn't hear anything iffy in this tune, but my concern is that it sounds a bit like Zedds other hit, Clarity.

Okay but...

This song is okay. but as a Zedd fan I am not a huge fan of this song. Haley Williams really takes away from it. Zedd has lost his true original sound to pop. the same thing has happened to Avicii and Calvin Harris. Really this isnt zedd at all. If you want a true Anton song, check out Slam the Door, Shotgun, and Scorpion Move. really they sound nothing like Clarity or Tsay the Night. they sound like Zedd. no singing. Electro House with a little bit of Dubstep mixed in. If u dont like it then u dont like Anton. Dont say u like Anton and know him if u just know Clarity and Stay the Night. cuz thats not True Anton
