Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that "Story of My Life" is a sweet single from One Direction's Midnight Memories album. The band's song features clean lyrics and a sentimental music video, but there's a scene that implied one band mate's relatives have passed away.

What's the story?

STORY OF MY LIFE is the second single from Midnight Memories. The boys have taken a literal interpretation of the song's title and share stories from their childhoods in the music video, giving fans an intimate glimpse into their lives.

Is it any good?

Sharing thousands of personal photos makes these British and Irish boys even more lovable. The attention to detail in the recreated scenes is certainly remarkable, and, although the folksy, guitar-driven ballad is a different sound for the pop quintet, Directioners will be swooning over the sweet lyrics and the touching music video.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can talk about One Direction's music video. Why do you think the band chose to share these personal photos? Which recreated story was your favorite, and why?

  • Take a look at some of your old family photos. What stories do they tell? Try to recreate them and see how much you've grown.

  • Do you like the folksy sound of this single or do you prefer the band's pop songs?

One of their best

Ah, here's where we get to see what's really behind those quiffs and ridiculous dance moves. It's definitely a different sound, but I have to say I love it. It's the kind of track that really lets their voices shine, and their songwriting talents as well. The song is powerful in that it traces their...well, the stories of their lives. I strongly believe that the "she" the song keeps referring to is their mums. All in all, the song isn't about a girlfriend--I think it's for the women in their families: mothers, sisters, grandmothers. And if you think the song is emotional, the video will take your heart and throw it off a cliff. It's beautiful. Together, the song and video take you back to where it truly all started: at home, from the very beginning. I love that this song reflects that. Bottom line? Not what you might expect from One Direction based on Best Song Ever or their previous albums, but certainly not in a bad way.

Good Role Models

One Direction isn't just some band that got formed. They impact a lot of peoples' lives by the actions they take. Also, they don't make albums about getting drunk, doing drugs, and having sex. I love them because they are a good role model for this generation. :)

Less than mediocre --- parents, lock up your daughters.

Your 1D fans might like this, but, personally, I HATE most of ONE DIRECTION'S music. Alright, Justin Bieber's worse. But One Direction are the only boy band (apart from the up-and-coming 5 Seconds of Summer) that most, if not all, boys, are critical of. Just saying. No iffy content apart from a comment about going home with a girl. Overrated.
