What's the story?

\"SURVIVAL,\" the official theme song from the 2012 London Summer Olympics, was penned and performed by the UK's own Muse. In a nod to the wide range of kids and people who will be watching the games around the world, the track contains no mature content or language whatsoever. The few lyrics all focus on never giving up on achieving your dreams.

Is it any good?

In classic Muse style, this track includes a big, sweeping rock arrangement with booming vocals to boot. It's a fitting tone for the world's biggest sports contest, associating the Olympic Games with an inspirational feel.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about the various training and preparation regimens that the various Olympic athletes go through in order to reach the games.

  • How long do many athletes have to train in order to become the best in their fields? Would you be willing to put that amount of time into your favorite sport?

  • What are some of the qualities that you think each Olympic athlete shares, regardless of her or his sport? Do you think these characteristics could help anyone achieve a dream?

  • Think of a goal you'd like to reach. What do you think an Olympic athlete would say to you to try and help you reach your goal?
