Sexy, lame dance track celebrates love with cliched lyrics.

A lot or a little?

The parents' guide to what's in this music.

Positive Messages

Though the upbeat track talks about the uplifting power of love, the message isn't really positive or negative.

Positive Role Models & Representations

Perry hasn't always been the best role model, but her music often focuses on empowerment for women, which is a good message.

The song features lyrics like "You reading me like erotica" and "Just when I think I can't take anymore / We go deeper and harder / Than ever before."

Drinking, Drugs & Smoking

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Walking on Air" is the third single from Katy Perry's album Prism. This upbeat, '90s-influenced dance track celebrates the uplifting power of love. Though the song skips iffy language or references to drugs or alcohol, the sexy lyrics make it best for older tweens and up.

Walking on the Radio Airwaves, therefore Clean!

"Erotica" is not even a cuss word, let alone not a sexual topic if only the word is mentioned.

My thought

Good. Catchy tune.

What's the story?

Katy Perry's third single from her album Prism, WALKING ON AIR, is a '90s-style dance track about the transcendent power of love. The track is the second single from the album produced by Swedish songwriter Klas Ahlund.

Is it any good?

Though it's nice to see Perry continuing to explore new styles on Prism, "Walking on Air" falls a bit flat. The vocals are breathy and miss her signature power, and the lyrics are pretty laughable when you get beyond the crazy-repetitive "I'm walking on air" with gems like "Even heaven is jealous of our love / Yes, we make angels cry." This single will be perfect for the club but is probably one you can leave off your iPod.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about the singles from Prism. Which one do you like best?

  • Why do you think Perry has chosen to try so many different styles on Prism?
