What's the story?

Although he got his start from making his own YouTube videos, Austin Mahone shows he has what it takes to make it in the big leagues with his single, "WHAT ABOUT LOVE." With a boy-band sound (he even references 'N Sync's "Bye, Bye, Bye" in the lyrics), and stellar dance moves in the song's music video, Mahone is a polished performer.

Is it any good?

While there's nothing groundbreaking or particularly interesting in Mahone's "What About Love," there's a lot of promise. The song sounds as if it could be straight off an old Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync album, but it's solid, catchy pop that will certainly appeal to tween and teens alike. And the fun music video shows Mahone has sweet dance skills and the charisma to hold up a long career ahead.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can talk about how artists make it in the music industry today. Why do you think so many performers get famous from YouTube and social media?

  • Why do you think Mahone referenced 'N Sync's "Bye, Bye, Bye" in "What About Love"?
