Meant to entertain rather than educate.

While the song doesn't really have a strong positive or negative message, Mahone keeps the lyrics clean and respectful in this catchy breakup song.

Positive Role Models & Representations

Although he's still just at the start of his career, so far Mahone has kept a clean image with tween-friendly lyrics. He's also very involved with his legion of fans ("Mahomies"), and stays connected with them through social media and personal Skype calls.

What's the story?

Although he got his start from making his own YouTube videos, Austin Mahone shows he has what it takes to make it in the big leagues with his single, "WHAT ABOUT LOVE." With a boy-band sound (he even references 'N Sync's "Bye, Bye, Bye" in the lyrics), and stellar dance moves in the song's music video, Mahone is a polished performer.

Is it any good?

While there's nothing groundbreaking or particularly interesting in Mahone's "What About Love," there's a lot of promise. The song sounds as if it could be straight off an old Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync album, but it's solid, catchy pop that will certainly appeal to tween and teens alike. And the fun music video shows Mahone has sweet dance skills and the charisma to hold up a long career ahead.
