Common Sense Media Launches New Educational Videos, Website, and PSAs in Spanish
Common Sense Media reiterates its commitment to address the needs of members of the Latino community who have Spanish as their first language.
San Francisco, CA - With the launch of seven new educational videos for parents, two public service announcements, and a new website, Common Sense Media reiterates its commitment to address the needs of members of the Latino community who have Spanish as their first language. The resources are all available on a brand new website: www.commonsense.org/latino.
The announcement of these new resources coincides with the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.
The videos available on Common Sense Media's website cover topics including social networks and your children, when to buy a cell phone, preschoolers and apps, setting media limits, and more.
"At Common Sense Media, we're committed to making sure that all kids grow up to reap all the benefits that digital media has to offer," said James P. Steyer, CEO and founder, Common Sense Media. "We know the very specific and unique challenges that parents and teachers in the Hispanic community face when it comes to managing the media and technology in kids' lives, and we understand the importance of meeting them where they are to ensure they have all the tools they need to raise safe, smart, and responsible digital citizens."
The PSAs address two important issues in the Hispanic community: texting management and Internet security. The ads try to find the comedy in each situation, as parents try to find solutions to tricky digital media issues with their kids. Common Sense Media partners Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable, as well as Telemundo, have committed to airing these Spanish-language PSAs on networks throughout their markets. View both :15 and :30 ads here: www.commonsense.org/video.
The website also provides tip sheets for parents on many topics related to media and technology. Common Sense Media is working to add even more resources in Spanish, both in content and video, in the coming months.
