Parenting in the Digital Age

Media and technology are at the very center of all our lives today -- especially our children's. Learning how to use media and technology wisely is an essential skill for life and learning in the 21st century. But parents often struggle to keep up with the rapidly changing digital world. Our PSA campaigns are designed to increase awareness of how parents can harness the potential and avoid the pitfalls of media and technology in their kids' lives.

#DeviceFreeDinner
Ninety-two percent of parents feel that quality conversations at dinnertime are very important for connecting with their kids, yet many worry that devices at the table are taking away from those moments. Research proves the benefits to kids of family dinners, such as vocabulary acquisition, fewer behavior problems, lower rates of substance abuse, and healthier eating patterns. We partnered with Citron Haligman, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Camp + King, and Anchorfield to develop the #DeviceFreeDinner campaign to encourage American families to take a break from device use and enjoy in-person conversations with family members..

Time for a #TechBreak?
Devices keep us connected, informed, and engaged, but sometimes you just need to take a tech break. These PSAs show media and tech moments that many parents will recognize. Steve Goldbloom reprised his fatherly role for and produced this campaign.

You're Not Alone
The digital-device handover moment is happening earlier than ever before. Kids as young as six months are swiping and scrolling and totally transfixed by screens of all sizes. This is the new frontier of parenting. To raise awareness about the challenges of raising kids in the digital age, we partnered with award-winning advertising agency Venables Bell & Partners to produce this powerful PSA campaign. We cast real parents talking unscripted about real problems parents face, such as the false promise of filters, unintended access to inappropriate content, and the struggle to teach kids how to find a healthy balance with technology.

realtime
Teaching kids how to find a healthy balance with media and technology starts with parents. Our realtime online campaign takes a satirical look at the bad habits parents model for their kids. We partnered with producer, actor, comedian, and fake father Steve Goldbloom to produce this campaign. The spots are funny, but this is serious stuff. Young kids learn how to use technology by watching their parents. As parents we all need to model healthy habits early and often.
