Is binge-watching TV bad for kids?

Streaming TV services make it easy to watch shows without taking a break, but watching too much TV may be harmful. Certain problems are linked to watching too much TV, such as obesity, poor sleep, falling grades, and even low self-esteem. Binge-watching TV every so often is OK, but balance is best. Help kids plan a weekly schedule. Include a mix of healthy activities, such as homework, chores, playdates, family time, and media.

Kid, 9 years old

Every once in a while, it is okay to binge watch TV. In my family we are allowed 30 minutes of screen time a day, which helps keep our schedule balanced and make sure no one spends too much time online. Occasionally, though, I will end up binge watching TV. One time it was five episodes of Goosebumps and another it was 3 hours of Fuller House. But as long as you make sure you’re not spending too much time binge watching your favorite shows than it’s okay.

Every once in a while is okay. Regular TV use is also good. When I'm feeling down or bored, I will binge watch and it distracts me from my problems. I would regulate it, definitely, but binge watching is okay every once in a while.
