Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Alaskan Animal Rescue is a reality documentary series featuring wild animal conservation organizations that rescue and rehabilitate wild animals from the region. While overall family-friendly, it does contain images of severely ill or wounded animals (with bloody injuries), some of which die or are euthanized (the dead animal is sometimes shown). Mating is discussed in very general terms, and there's some occasional strong words and a bleeped curse or two. It contains clear environmental messages about protecting wild life's natural habitats.
Is It Any Good?
This engaging series shows the efforts being made across Alaska to help protect and preserve the wild animals that make the state great. It introduces viewers to species of animals that are specific to the area, as well as the unique challenges that come with their rescue, including having to navigate thousands of miles of coast line, and trying to reach animals in remote areas that aren't on the Alaskan road system.
There are some difficult moments, especially when beloved animals die or have to be put down. The cast Alaskan Animal Rescue acknowledges how hard this is. But the passion they have for animals, and the excitement they feel when they successfully return them back into the wild, is also very evident. This, along with the cinematic views of the spectacular Alaskan frontier as the show's backdrop, makes it worth the watch.
