Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Bakery Boss, which is part of the Cake Boss reality franchise, features celebrity baker Buddy Valastro helping struggling bakery owners to stay in business. Despite some occasional language ("crap," "hell"), and some arguing between business owners and staff, the show is pretty mild, and contains positive messages about family and hard work.
What's the story?
The reality series BAKERY BOSS stars celebrity baker Buddy Valastro as he travels across the country helping struggling bakery owners save their businesses. From trying to convince stubborn owners that their recipes need reworking, to helping long-established neighborhood bakeries update their business practices and storefronts, Valastro is committed to helping folks make their shops a financial and culinary success while enjoying the work that goes into creating delicious baked confections.
Is it any good?
The Cake Boss reality spin-off offers a look at what goes into running a small bakery. Most of the struggling bakeries are family owned and rely on their local communities to keep them in business. The show highlights some of the many entrepreneurial and baking skills necessary for making these small businesses successful.
Bakery Boss is interesting, but the show's main focus is on Valastro's efforts to help owners resolve some of the family issues that are contributing (at least on camera) to their bakery's demise. These emotional moments are voyeuristic, but the results of the baking drama are usually as sweet as pie.
