This series combines the best elements from SESAME STREET and THE ELECTRIC COMPANY, and why not? After all, many of the people who worked on this show previously worked on SESAME STREET and THE ELECTRIC COMPANY. It also does a double duty by teaching children not only how to read, but also to read (as is evidenced by the fact that books are read on air during the program). This is also likey to be more appealing to the youngest readers (4 and 5 year olds) than THE ELECTRIC COMPANY, for, while THE ELECTRIC COMPANY skews a couple years older, BETWEEN THE LIONS is geared for preschoolers. The parodies ensure that this series will also appeal to adults, as well as older children. We should want BETWEEN THE LIONS back on PBS.
