Well executed, acted, etc. Good historical references that are educational. Show is the most overtly liberal fictional show Ive seen. I appreciate the educational part, but don't love how white people are portrayed as racist. I believe this is to portray how it feels and to exaggerate it a bit, as on any other sitcom. At the same time, while you have a platform, and watchers open to listen, you are missing an opportunity by being polarizing yourselves. The parents are portrayed regularly as selfish and shallow, but generally redeem themselves by the end of the show. There are way too many heavier references around sex than necessary on what is being marketed as a family program. I appreciate that life happens, but making a parent catch his son masturbating seems unnecessary. Season 1, "The Talk". Let me create my own teaching moments with my children. It doesnt need to be embedded in a TV show to only catch me off guard, and then force me to have a discussion with my children. We watch TV to relax and be entertained. We have enough real life without TV. Shows about families with elementary school kids appeal to real families that are the same. How then is the content inevitably always not age appropriate? At least this show gets less smutty as it matures, where most are the opposite. I like the actors and the quality of the show. I like the educational element. Tone down the portrayal of all white people as racist please and drop the sex.
