What's the Story?
Bright Now is a magazine series that explores various subjects, usually having to do with STEM subjects, current events, and social issues. Each short episode focuses on a different idea or story, from a tiny house in Hawaii to the rise of the Wright Brothers. The show wastes no time getting into some serious science; an episode about a mysterious object in space features lots of astronomy diagrams and scientists debating its origin; another explores the mechanism of ketamine and why it can work for suicidal depression.
Is It Any Good?
These short newsmagazine-type segments are uniformly interesting, even as the subject matter varies wildly. Bringing challenging ideas to the forefront, each epsiode offers just enough information to give viewers something to talk about (they would be great as classroom supplements). Like a Wikipedia page come to life, Bright Now is a great pick for curious teens.
