A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Copy That! is a competition series starring YouTube stars. It features four popular YouTubers: make-up artist Lisette, contortionist Sofie Dossie, baker Rosanna Pansino, and gamer Preston Arsement. The influencers are challenged with copying the talents and skills of their fellow creators on the show. A different cast member hosts each episode, and the episode is then aired on his or her YouTube channel. As influencers, they are the faces of their brands, so consumerism is obscure, but present. Because the stars of the show are social media influencers, parents may want to pay close attention to how kids perceive the stars and interact with their content. Bare midriffs are frequent in some episodes.

What's the Story?
COPY THAT! taps into YouTube's assortment of creators, the show brings together four well-known (and well-followed) YouTubers to show off their talents while attempting to gain new skills. Each episode is headlined by one of the four influencers and centers around a challenge. The challenge takes the competitors out of their comfort zones to attempt the host's talent. Each competitor is given a unique advantage -- an accommodation to help them be successful in some aspect of the challenge. The episodes end with the host influencer offering feedback to the competitors and scoring their performances. The scores are not revealed until the final episode where the two cast members with the highest scores will go head to head to claim the title.
Is It Any Good?
Music, color, and familiar faces cover up the fact that there's not much depth to this show. But fans of YouTube personalities who have extra time on their hands, will likely want to check out Copy That! There is a vibrant energy to the show, created by upbeat music, lots of bright colors, and the fact that viewers are watching four friends act silly together as they get to show off their skills. Beyond that, though, the substance is lacking. Where there could have been an opportunity to teach some of the influencers' skills to viewers who may also want to "copy that," there is mostly just the opportunity for influencers to drive more traffic to their already well-populated channels and platforms. Moments intended to build suspense or heighten drama are uneventful and tend to go on longer than needed. Despite the fact that the show falls a bit flat, funny comments, familiar faces, silly challenges, and the absence of inappropriate content make it an easy watch for the whole family.
