This Show Does NOT Glorify Drug Use and Teenage Sex.

This show does not glorify drug abuse, or teenage sex. Instead, it shows the affects of what drugs and unhealthy relationships have on teens lives. The show itself was created by a former drug addict who wanted to inform his audience and realistically show what it was like to be an addict as a teenager. Rue, the main character, became a drug addict to attempt to numb her grief after her father passed away. The show shows the negative effects her addiction has on her romantic relationship, her relationship with her family, and her own mental health. Rue says and does things to her loved ones that she would never do sober. As a 15 year old, viewing how drugs have affected Rue’s life has show me how destructive drugs are much better than they show you in high-school health class. That being said, if you are a recovering addict I would not suggest watching it, because there are scenes that show how characters feel at the peak of when they are high, and I could see someone being tempted to relapse because of those scenes. There is a lot of nudity, mainly male genitals, and as someone who doesn’t like staring at a bunch of penises, I found that it was pretty easy to preview using the little box that pops up when you fast-forward, and then mark the time stamps when there’s a scene that I would prefer to skip. Almost every character in the show is in some sort of relationship, and none of their relationships are healthy, but it is also not glamorized. Some female characters seek male validation, and continue to stay in toxic relationships and do sexual things they do not want to do in order to receive male validation. This can realistically show young women how domestic abuse and physical abuse looks, and can prevent them from experiencing what these characters have experienced because they have been informed. I would say that Euphoria is not for anyone under 15 years old. I almost watched this show when I was 13, and I am glad I didn’t because personally I think when I was 13 I would not have fully understood the meaning and message being presented, and would’ve gotten the wrong idea. Teenagers who watch Euphoria under 15 may not understand that the characters are making mistakes that they will later grow from, and may instead be influenced by what they see and attempt to be like the characters. The physical aesthetic of Euphoria is not realistic. Characters are unrealistically attractive, high-school parties are physically much prettier than they actually are, and some characters wear outfits that probably would get them dress coded in an actual public highschool in America. But aside from the physical aspect, what characters go through is very real and raw and I think many young adults and people in general can learn and grow from it. Thank you for reading :)

WATCH THIS SHOW PLSS ITS RLLY IMPORTANT

People misunderstood the entire reason of this show, it isn't to romanticise underage sex, drugs, or violence but it is here to show us how horrible it is. It isn't saying these are great things its showing it from a teenagers point of view I can find at least 27 kids in my grade who can each relate to at least two things said in this, the message is quiet hidden but it really shows how behind our parents children do the worst now of course that doesn't mean you should lock up your child but it means you should try understand. There is a feeling of misunderstanding that many people feel and many others don't and this show covers all of it, from overdose to things like child pornography. Then don't forget, times have changed children are much more exposed to drugs then we were before, heck I could walk down the street and buy some right now and its all over the internet a show like this really brings to life and shows how these things are from a teenagers point of view, doesn't matter how gross they are we still do them, there may be 'TOO MUCH SEX' for you but its just setting it visually because adults don't listen they don't understand and they react in all the wrong ways and do not try to correct me because it is true, I am 17 years of age and can relate to multiple things said and done in this show, so can all my friends, I have a trans friend who has had struggles with her sexuality, I have a friend who overdosed and got kicked out of the house multiple times, I have friends who ended up in hospital due to suicidal attempts and I have friends who have exposed them self and been slut-shamed so please stop shaming this show of course these aren't great things but it is our society that makes them so thrilling this show only makes us aware and no matter how gross it is it is truthful, now you wouldn't be able to relate to every single aspect of it but it isn't easy to show this many things with way more to come, please be more mindful and understanding of this show before it grosses you out and if it has thats a good thing because that's what its made to do, make a change.

DO NOT WATCH THIS! PLEASE!

Disgusting and utterly pointless to watch. Yes, it depicts the sad, depressing reality of many young adults in this corrupted world, however, in the most explicit and overly inappropriate way EVER. The scenes go beyond uncomfortable and venture into disgust and horrification. Some of the more petrifying scenes were scarring and negatively unforgettable. A lot of people on here say that it is "a good life lesson not to engage in these things" and "a real depiction of what it is like," but instead of watching this morally warped film and experiencing firsthand some of the more dark events happening in some lives, ask questions and comprehend the darkness of this world through healthy conversation and NOT a visual experience. This is NOT a healthy or appropriate film, even for adults!!

It’s complicated.

Okay, this show is a complicated review. First of all, the age rating? Totally based on maturity. I would definitely say that not all fifteen year olds could handle this. This show has a lot of mature topics-drugs, alcohol, sex (really explicit, lots of nudity). I think some were handled well, but some definitely weren’t. Whether you’re a parent or a kid, you’ve probably heard that this show glamorizes drug use and addiction. I wholeheartedly disagree. I’ve never taken drugs, but this show basically turned me off ever considering it. I don’t know how people see a depiction of a struggling teenage addict and think it’s glamorous. The sex is another story. I feel kinda iffy about all the characters who are minors having all the sex scenes. Also, as a teenager, it’s not realistic to say that it’s a truthful depiction of high school. At least half of all teenagers aren’t having sex, so why focus a whole show on it? All in all, I’d say to make sure a kid in middle school or younger does not have access to this show, and make sure you or your kid is prepared to fully understand such a mature show.

Im 17 and i was disgusted

Ive been through a lot of things that also go on in this show but even I cant bare to watch this and threw up two times. The first episode triggered me and caused me to have a panic attack which my boyfriend calmed me down. These actors are posing at High school juniors and showed uncensored sex/r*pe scenes. Something that can trigger a lot of people and is a topic that should be discussed but NEVER shown especially on a show advertised for teens. I am so disappointed. My friends told me it was a lot but i NEVER expected it to be THIS bad. Right off the bat the first episode shows a pedofile r*ping a trans underage teen. This is meant for young teens to watch? Im currently crying right now after my boyfriend told me that his 15 year old sister watched this show and i thought about all the uncensored r*pe scenes she saw and how now she probably thinks it’s okay to give in just because a man wants to do the deed. Im so upset. Viewer discretion REALLY IS ADVISED

Don't watch it please!!!

I really don't like this show first off it is a bunch of high-schoolers didn't even reach the age of 18, and already doing this nonsense, in my opinion I think the shows makes it seem that drugs are good. But I cannot lie the actors/actress are outstanding.

unnecessary and predatory show

I’m a more liberal teenager, member of the lgbtq+ community, and usually pretty open about things. This show was just wayyy too much for me. Full-on nudity scenes, drug use in almost every scene, graphic violence in so many different ways, rape, and just over all scary. And whose idea was it to make a show full of sex and then make almost all of the characters underage? There’s a locker room scene where you see about 20 different penises close-up. This show has got to be some producer finding an outlet for his pedophilia in a way that won’t put him in prison. Overall, as a 16 year old and a senior in high school, this show creeps me out because of all the nudity and makes me upset because of all the drugs and violence.

incredible show if you’re old enough for it

euphoria is an incredible show, if you’re mature enough for it. i was way too young to watch it and I shouldn’t have so if you’re my age I’d say go watch something else. it shows full nudity, practically pornography, blatant use of drugs, alcohol, and smoking. it’s an incredible show and if you’re older I’d suggest you watch it, but if you’re young steer clear of it and keep your youth.

DO NOT WATCH THIS

Very explicit and not ok. I was not going to write a review on this but then i saw all the reviews on here saying that it's ok to watch. this series is for VERY mature audiences and utterly INAPPROPRATE. I know now that a lot of teens are watching this series at the moment, but personally i do not think it is appropriate. there are lots of well known actors in the series, but that is where i think the quality ends. Yes it might be inappropriate, but the part that gets me is that most of the explicit scenes are unnecessary. Please do not let your child watch this. And if you are a teen watching this, get ready to get permanently scarred.
