Parents need to know that Food Network Star Kids is a cooking competition starring kids and tweens who face challenges both in the kitchen and on the screen as they try to demonstrate readiness for their own web series. What's the story?
FOOD NETWORK STAR KIDS is a cooking competition that challenges 10 contestants to chop, grill, and plate their way to success: a Food Network web series starring the winner. Foodies Tia Mowry and Donal Skehan mentor the aspiring chefs and judge their work both in the kitchen and in front of the camera. With each new cooking assignment, the contestants must showcase their expertise while racing the clock, all in the hopes of hosting their own cooking show.
Is it any good?
Foodies young and old will enjoy this fast-paced show, and its young kitchen crew doesn't disappoint in skill or determination. Though there are moments when it seems as though they're trying to outshine each other in the personality department, their work in the kitchen really is quite remarkable and the culinarily challenged of any age might learn a thing or two.
Even if cooking isn't your kids' hobby of choice, watching these kids work hard at what they love is very inspirational. Beyond braising basics and slicing safety, the stars of Food Network Star Kids have much to teach about determination, coping with pressure, and overcoming disappointment. Their experiences in the kitchen -- both positive and negative -- easily relate to broader life experiences, so families will find a lot to talk about after watching.
