What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Gigantosaurus is a CGI series based on a book of the same name by Jonny Duddle about young dinosaurs who explore together, solve problems, and track Giganto, the biggest dino in the land, to learn about him. The stories celebrate curiosity that inspires learning by hands-on experiences and observation, as well as the rewards of perseverance. Kids who watch will learn some basic scientific truths, such as the meaning of extinction and the fact that dinosaurs lay eggs but mammals don't. Other recurring themes involve self-control, self-confidence, courage, and respect for life of all sizes. Young kids might find Giganto's immense size to be scary, but overall this series is a fun watch for dinosaur enthusiasts.

What's the story?
In GIGANTOSAURUS, four dinosaur pals team up for big adventures around their community as they help others, solve problems, and learn about the mysterious Gigantosaurus ("Giganto") that lives among them. Often it's Mazu's curiosity that leads the group's charge, and her friends Tiny (voiced by Aine Sunderland), Bill (Benjamin Jacobson), and Rocky (Dylan Schombing) eagerly join in her explorations. Whether it's returning a lost egg to its herd or saving an insect species from extinction, these dinosaurs never give up on a challenge.
Is it any good?
This engaging series introduces young viewers to a new cast of dinosaur characters whose adventures thoroughly entertain. Gigantosaurus does a great job incorporating personality characteristics that will resonate with kids, from Rocky's undaunted courage in new challenges to Bill's cautiousness in the same. The mix of personalities remind kids that we don't need to be exactly like each other to be friends, and that there's always a lot we can learn from those around us.
Though not a purposefully intimidating presence, Giganto's size relative to the diminutive dino tots and the many near-misses between his oversized feet and their small bodies may be concerning to very young kids. What's more, the fact that he does not talk while all the other characters do adds to the mystery surrounding him. That said, this likable series promises to thrill young dinosaur enthusiasts, and its visual appeal and sweet characters make it a tolerable watch for parents as well.
