Parents Need to Know

Although there's a lot of name calling and sibling rivalry in this show, the messages about honesty, standing up for yourself, and overcoming obstacles make this a fine pick.

What's the story?

Based on the books by Mordecai Richler, JACOB TWO-TWO chronicles the adventures of a kid whose siblings gave him the titular nickname because he usually needs to say everything twice in order to be heard. But while the always-honest Jacob (voiced by Billy Rosemberg) may be small and the object of much sibling teasing, he can overcome almost any obstacle by the end of each episode.

Is it any good?

QUALITY

In addition to boasting hip music and cool animation, Jacob Two-Two is a show that most kids should be able to relate to. What kid hasn't had to deal with wanting their own room, trying to fit in, and learning how to stand up for themselves in a big world? The sibling rivalries are sometimes overplayed, and the name-calling and occasional slight innuendoes between Jacob's parents might raise a few parental eyebrows. But overall the series successfully conveys useful life lessons in each episode, making it a fine choice for grade-schoolers.

Families can talk about...

  • Families can talk about family roles. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being the youngest (or oldest, or middle) child in a large family? What's it like to be an only child? How are families similar to and different than each other?

this show is one the qubo shows that aren't childish like maisy and boo it doesn't have boring lessons like willa's wild life and pearlie, and it doesn't have adults acting like kids like turbo dogs it's only flaw is the animation . really hilarious like greedygut naked. jacob two two marathon on qubo 9am to 12pm on november 25 2011 don't miss it
