The charming series spins entertaining tales about a smart and energetic Scottish Highland girl. Katie's energy, generosity of spirit, and determination exhibited during her antics are reminiscent of the sweet and plucky stories of Lucy Maude Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. But despite the charming world in which she lives, Katie Morag is more contemporary, and because it is geared towards younger children, it offers shorter episodes with more simplified narratives. Granted, the local Scottish vernacular will be unfamiliar to some stateside viewers, but overall, the innocent stories are easy to understand. Children who prefer watching more energetic, animated content probably won't gravitate towards it, but those who enjoy the books, or who like quieter, more story-driven t.v. shows, will find it bonnie good.
