What's the Story?
POUNDING INSTINCTS begins with a chase. A naked man is running through an industrial neighborhood of Madrid, Spain, while being followed by a white SUV. He dives into a tent, which is inhabited by a man and a cat. He begs the man in the tent to remember his name, saying that he is going to be killed by the men in the white vehicle. Shortly after this brief plea for help, he's shot by the man in the SUV and his body is taken away. The man in the tent calls a reporter he knows to tell him what he saw. When the reporter gets too close to solving the mystery, he dies in a motorcycle accident. Meanwhile, a surgeon whose drug habit has pushed him to the point of collapse is given a heart transplant. He begins to have dreams that indicate the heart he's received holds secrets to solving murders. Can he help find the killer? What's behind the murders?
Is It Any Good?
This action-filled Spanish medical thriller that questions whether the spirit lives on after the body expires, is an intriguing series. The acting is fine in Pounding Instincts, and the plot compels, but there's a reliance on post-production voiceovers that cheapen the final product (which was released in 2016 under the Spanish title Pulsaciones).
Adults will probably be more attracted to the moody European vibe of this show than teens -- but don't rule it out for older teens. Fans of mysteries with a touch of the metaphysical will dig this show the most.

Though women have professional roles (as doctors and reporters) in this show, they are still patronized at times by their male colleagues. What does your ideal business relationship with someone of another gender look like?
