What's the Story?

SECOND GENERATION WAYANS is a comedy based on the lives of the next generation of Hollywood's distinguished Wayans family. Damien Dante Wayans and Craig Wayans are finding it hard to build their individual entertainment careers while living under the shadows of their famous relatives, and trying to balance their individual love lives. With the help of their friend and new partner George O. Gore II, and their office assistant Maya (played by Tatyana Ali), they hope to create a name for themselves while taking Tinseltown by storm.

Using comedy and a bit of drama, the original BET scripted series stars actors pretending to be themselves in fictional situations. Second Generation Wayans also attempts to highlight some of the pros and cons that come with being part of a family with a Hollywood legacy when trying to build a career in the entertainment industry, and weave them into individual narratives about romance and relationships.

Some of story combinations work, and there are some light-hearted moments, too. But the conflicts presented here aren't particularly creative, and there isn't much here to make you laugh out loud. Nonetheless, the cast is definitely likable, and no doubt that viewers will be interested in seeing what the new generation of this famous Hollywood family is up to.
