This franchise add-on sacrifices a compelling storyline for what its chief objective seems to be: introducing a new group of animal characters to the cast. To be fair, they're adorable, funny, and nicely paired to the diverse personalities among the Super Monsters, but because of the time it takes to add them to the mix, the overall story gets shortchanged, leaving Super Monsters Furever Friends to feel like an extended ad campaign for the items sure to hit the toy shelves.

That said, the show's young fans won't be bothered at all by this, and the special does present two characters who hone valuable social-emotional skills in the course of the story, in both cases with the help of adults who work with the kids to identify and understand some complicated feelings. The bottom line? Furever Friends isn't the best that the Super Monsters franchise has to offer, but kids who already know and like the show will want to see how the characters and their new animal friends come to meet.
