This unscripted series highlights the challenges that come with becoming a young parent, but it's not a very fresh addition to the Teen Mom canon. Much of the drama comes from the cast's struggles to maintain positive and stable relationships with their babies' fathers. Adding to this are the additional conflicts brought on by feuding grandparents, addiction, and a judgmental community.

Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant serves as a cautionary tale for young adults (and to some extent, their parents). However, it follows an overall soap opera-like formula that moves away from teaching life lessons and creates entertainment out of personal disagreements and discord. This formula has made the overall franchise popular, and it's yielded a fair share of controversial reality celebs. As a result, one has to question what messages the viewers of Young and Pregnant are going to come away with.
