What’s It About?
In their own words, A MIGHTY GIRL is \"the world’s largest collection of books, toys, movies, and music for parents, teachers, and others dedicated to raising smart, confident, and courageous girls and, of course, for girls themselves!\" It's a curated collection of products that exists to help parents and kids find positive female role models in media and make informed choices.
Is It Any Good?
A Mighty Girl is a helpful resource for both kids and parents trying to navigate the challenging world of kids' media. Founders Carolyn Danckaert and Aaron Smith have done an excellent job of bringing together the best and most empowering books, movies, and toys that help instill a sense of confidence and self-reliance in young girls.
Parents should feel comfortable letting their daughters browse the site (under parent supervision) to pick out their own products and create a wishlist. The site is pretty new, so it's still growing, but it's easy to use and has some really fun features; click the Character Collection tab and you'll get lists of classic female characters from all media. Wordgirl? Yes! Frida Kahlo? Totally! Xena, Warrior Princess? Well, okay.

Did we miss something on diversity?
Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.
