What's it about?

Tween boys have such varied digital options that they rarely stay in one place. DISNEYXD.COM, the companion site of Disney's new cable television channel, is designed to hang onto this demographic by offering a compelling Web destination based on the channel's TV shows. The site offers a huge range of games, video snippets, full-length online exclusive shows, chat, and more. Boys can create and customize their avatar and play games to earn points, which can then be used to buy more cool (virtual) stuff for their avatar. The chat feature is filtered and monitored, just like on Disney's other sites that offer social networking, Club Penguin, Pixie Hollow and others.

Is it any good?

Graphically, the production values on DisneyXD are excellent, and have the look, feel, and quality of the Disney XD channel itself. The games will be a big draw for boys, and the site's creators have done a nice job of categorizing the games so it's easy to find your favorites. Boys will also enjoy the overarching competition of competing for the site's highest scores.

Most likely, if your kids like the TV shows, they'll enjoy the games that are based on the show's characters and premises. And Disney is planning lots of tie-ins to the TV channel. Overall, the site is safe, so the main issue to be aware of is the onslaught of ads and show promos.

Online interaction: Kids can create their own profile and are encouraged to make friends with other kids.

Iffy chat

it is ok, I just don't feel very safe on the chat, even on safe chat, as even though it has pre-set text, if you don't have that you or the other people can say anything they want. But if you trust your child not to give personal info you can let your child on
