Facebook is a good app for connecting with friends, family, etc., however the majority of today's teens, have replaced Facebook with Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, you name it. I'll admit, I always have kind of thought that Facebook was more of a moms' site, talking about their children and what's best for them and whatnot, but Facebook does quite an OK job at satisfying users, with games, business pages, event planners, etc. Heck, I was pretty pleased myself using Facebook. Content including profanity, sexual content, violence, and references (drinking, drugs, and smoking) can easily be found by younger audiences, which is why privacy tools exist. Privacy settings are easy and fast to access. This includes who can see your page, your posts, and your favorites. There are quite a few sections to the Privacy tab. Also, advertisements from sites you may have visited or content that may interest you, appear on the side of your home page, so make sure kids under 13 know this (teens should be mature enough by now to realize this). To be honest, I think as long as you're safe (being careful who you friend and who friends you), and post appropriate content, I think social media is a great way for anyone 13+ to connect with friends and have fun. Hope this helped!
