Did we miss something on diversity?

Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.

A lot or a little?

The parents' guide to what's in this movie.

Stands out for positive role models.

Positive Messages

Dude Perfect keeps the fun clean and creative. They try incredible tricks, have gotten into the Guinness Book of World Records more than once, and continue to come up with new ways to entertain their fans.

Positive Role Models

These lifelong friends show how buddies can have a good time together with friendly competition ("battles"), creative trick shots, and lots of good-spirited humor.

Violence & Scariness
Sexy Stuff

Lots of sponsorships from big-name advertisers like Sony and Pringles; their own "merch" store (complete with a $99.99 Dude Perfect-themed birthday party); and lots of aspirational mentions of big toys to want to buy.

Drinking, Drugs & Smoking

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Dude Perfect is a variety show that features trick shots, sports themes, humorous skits, and good-natured "battles" between friends. The five guys who created Dude Perfect are all good buddies who together come up with fun adventures, trick shots of all kinds, and lots of laughs. This is a clean, kid-friendly YouTube channel, with no swearing, no drinking, and no references to drugs or sex in any of the videos reviewed. What there is, however, is a lot of sponsorships for everything from Oreos to sport fishing boats. Dude Perfect's biggest trick shot may be how much money these guys are banking. Please note: Our reviewers watch between one and two hours of content to determine the general appropriateness of each YouTube channel. Some channels contain more variety within their content than others; we do our best to capture the channel's overall subject and tone to help parents make the best choice for their family. We recommend parent co-viewing of YouTube content for kids under 13.

What's the story?

DUDE PERFECT's YouTube videos are sometimes funny, often jaw-dropping, refreshingly clean, and always energized. These five friends keep viewers glued to the screen with fast-paced, well-edited videos that often involve sports tricks, comedy, and good-natured "battles" between the buddies. A smorgasbord of their best content includes a battle (Deep Sea Fishing Battles); cracking up viewers with "stereotype" videos such as Beach Stereotypes; and amazing trick videos like Ping Pong Trick Shots 3. Their tricks may or may not include digital altering or editing, but they look real.

Is it any good?

There's a reason this sports and trick shots channel consistently ranks in the Top 10 for most subscribers on YouTube. Dude Perfect proves that you'll never know what you can accomplish unless you try, no matter how unreal it seems. Sports fans especially will love what these guys do. These five friends have made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for longest barefoot Lego walk; they perform crazy trick shots, engage in fun-to-watch battles, and act in sometimes hilarious "stereotypes" videos. Some of these guys' trick shots seem impossible (and may be). But even if some are digitally altered (as some people suspect), the camera and editing skills, the teamwork, and the creativity that it takes to come up with these tricks is an art unto itself.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about how Dude Perfect sinks these trick shots. How many tries does your kid think it took before they made some of these shots? Ask your kid: Do you think they're all real, or are some digitally created?

  • Dude Perfect has gotten into the Guinness Book of World Records multiple times. Ask your kid: If you could get into the Guinness Book of World Records, what would it be for?

  • Talk with your kid about digital media creation. Producing top-quality videos like this isn't as easy as Dude Perfect makes it look. It takes a lot of work before, during, and after filming to create some of Dude Perfect's trick shot and battle videos.
