Brand Campaign Manager

Chief Development Officer

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) provides strategic leadership and guidance for the development department, while supporting the President and Board Chair. The CDO is responsible for building a multi-year sustainability strategy to deepen, diversify, and support the organization’s $35M annual budget. This executive-level role involves managing and motivating a team of skilled fundraising staff, developing both existing and new relationships and strategic partnerships, and ensuring the achievement of Common Sense Media’s mission and goals.
Director, Business Development & Partnerships

We are seeking a Director of Global Outreach skilled at organizing and leading efforts with the organization's global partners around the world. Their goal is to execute the Executive Leadership team's strategy for Common Sense Media's global planning and growth to extend the organization's reach to better protect and prepare children, families, and our democracy in a digital world.
In particular, the Director of Global Outreach will coordinate international strategy for the organization, to develop and implement sustainable growth abroad across Common Sense's consumer, education, and advocacy - with a specific focus on technology and AI.
Europe Director

We are seeking a Europe Director to serve as Common Sense Media’s lead ambassador and advocacy representative in the EU. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about building the organisation’s impact with European policymakers and other key partners and stakeholders to help shape the future of technology and media for children, families, and society.
Executive Director - Youth AI Safety Institute
San Francisco, CA (Common Sense Media headquarters)
Travel: Estimated 25–35% domestic and international
Reports to: CEO, Common Sense Media. Leads senior team across research, standards, evaluations, publishing, and public engagement; works closely with the Board of Advisors (liaison: Dr. Vivek Murthy, former U.S. Surgeon General).
Compensation: Competitive compensation package between $250,000-$300,000 depending on experience.
The Executive Director is the founding leader of the Youth AI Safety Institute—a mission-driven institution-builder who will launch a technically credible global institute and scale it into a trusted, field-level standard setter. This is a role for a leader already accomplished in their own right: deeply steeped in AI, possessed of genuine gravitas, and fully committed to protecting the next generation in the AI era. Managing a $20–25M annual operating budget, the Executive Director reports to the CEO of Common Sense Media and serves as a primary public face of the Institute alongside Common Sense Media’s senior leadership. The ideal candidate brings two equally strong capabilities: (1) deep technical fluency to engage as a peer with frontier AI companies, tooling and evaluation providers, and leading researchers; and (2) exceptional convening ability to drive consensus on youth AI safety standards and hold industry accountable. This leader is a confident relationship-builder equally comfortable making tough calls, navigating conflicts of interest, and engaging the Board with candor.
Manager, Individual Giving

The Manager of Individual Giving will build and manage relationships with donors to support Common Sense Media's fundraising efforts. This role is critical to sustaining a $5M+ annual individual giving team revenue stream. You'll focus on connecting and increasing donor engagement across all levels, partnering with major gift officers, and growing the current portfolio of high-potential mid-level donors at the $1K–$10K level.
Marketing Programs Manager

The Senior Director of Strategic Events will lead the strategy and execution of Common Sense Media's highest-impact convenings and integrated campaigns. This portfolio includes flagship fundraising events, national summits, and strategic gatherings that bring together leaders across philanthropy, policy, and technology to advance meaningful, measurable change.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and influence. It is responsible not only for delivering exceptional events, but also for ensuring those moments are designed to drive sustained engagement, deepen partnerships, and accelerate progress toward the organization's mission.
Vice President, Engineering

Reports to: Chief Product & Technology Officer
Salary: $175,000–$205,000 per year
The Vice President of Engineering leads all of Engineering at Common Sense Media, setting the technical and organizational direction for the platforms and products serving our Families and Education divisions. The role is accountable for building a contemporary engineering practice that ships ambitious product roadmaps with velocity and quality, scales engineering capacity sustainably across in-house and global teams, and applies AI thoughtfully across both our products and the way we build them.

Families know us for our independent, age-based reviews of movies, TV shows, books, games, podcasts and apps. Educators use our free curriculum and edtech reviews to plan lessons and integrate technology into their teaching practice. At our core, we are a children's advocacy group. We draw on original research, industry expertise, and community partnerships to advocate for laws and policies that help kids thrive.
