Days With Frog and Toad (by Verna Aardema)

This entry in the Frog and Toad series contains five stories about two friendly amphibians and their adventures that are so down-to-earth that young readers relate instantly. Although "Shivers," with its scary ghost theme, is a bit edgy for this usually gentle and very kid-friendly series, the children who read these books are typically enthralled by ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night, and will enjoy reading how Toad and Frog deal with similar scary ideas.

As always, the friends are presented in a simple yet engaging fashion, using both easy-to-read words and soft tan-and-moss watercolors. The real joy in the books, however, is the joy Frog and Toad find in their relationship with each other.
