What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Some risky behaviors (writing fake letters, climbing a dangerously tall tree) don't have negative consequences. Junior high life is depicted very optimistically; in real life, Emma-Jean would probably be subject to a lot of ridicule.
  • Violence:

A kid falls out of a tree.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

    Hi, it's me again

Oops! I forgot to finish my review! Oh well. As I was saying, I don't understand why parents like this book. Yes, it may be age-appropriate, but it's boring. I know this may sound bad, but kids these days are more mature than adults think. We already know about those "bad things" you try to keep away from us. This book does a good job of leaving kids ignorant of the outside world. So, if you want to leave your kids uninformed, get this book.

    Cliche

Like the reviewer before me, I wasn't entertained while reading this book. It has an unoriginal plot and the characters are also run of the mill. I don't understand why adults like this
