What parents need to know

Parents need to know that many kinds of families are represented -- mom and dad, single parents, dad and dad, mom and mom. And Parr's bright colors mix and match to show racial diversity as well.

What's the story?

A celebration of families built by adoption.

Is it any good?

Although this book is dedicated first and foremost to adoptive families, and though all adoptions are different and some adoptive families may not identify as much with the message of the book, every parent can appreciate its theme of generosity and love. Suffused with bright colors, the happy stick figures in the illustrations reflect the joy that comes from loving families. Even infants will delight in the brilliant hues -- deep blue skies, deep green grass, and people that come in purple, orange, and green.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about their own stories of coming together by birth or adoption. What is your family like? If you were adopted, how do you feel about that?
