One of the best books I've ever read.
This book is honestly probably theeee best book ever. It gives the disturbing and very chilling details of a teenager named alice. Even though it does refer to drugs, it's very educational deffinelty stopped me from ever even considering trying them.

Terrifying; a real page-turner.
This book was extremely dark and terrifying. The things the main character goes through are so sad, and repulsive and it makes the reader want to jump inside the book and be her friend and guide her away from the drugs and craziness.

Great "book"
Okay, so I read this DIARY when I was 14 or 15. It helps teens understand the importance of not trying any drug. To the first reviewer...it is a young girls actual story and its heartbreaking. It explains in the beginning its a DIARY and at the end it says that she passed away because of an overdose. "Alice" thought she was fine. This "book" was a real life and it had a soul.

If an parents out their try to protect kids from the world, or school/partying. This can happen. At the end of the day it comes down to the fact that we will always find a way to do what we want. So stick on our side. Also let us know why not to use drugs, and use examples in life to help not to protect.

My personal opinion
I personally loved the book. Kids these days are dealing with this type of behavior and even though the role models potrayed in this book are wrong, i think that many teenagers will benifit from reading this. At first i thought that this would make me want to do more drugs, but once i saw her life collapse it hit me. Id recommend this book for 13 yrs and up.

life has its ways of givin lessons
i have this book because it is very intwind in my life right now. i can relate because i am a teen addict aswell, and i have been since i was 11. this book is a very good role model to young teens and their families. it shows you wat to talk about wit your kids and it could help teens come out and ask for help. there cant be to much of anything in this book because it was a life of a young teen who has fallen into the life of drugs. for the people out there who think this book is nothing.... well you dont know wat life really is. and if you dont read this book then you will probably have a child who will become an addicit. its not a life i wish on someone but if you read this book it will help you to SEE wat it is. how it works and wat it does. you might be sayin "oh i know all about it" but you dont untill you have lived it or have seen someone live it and even die from it. i just had a very close friend who died from an over dose and it was like i died too. read this book and i promise you that you will see a whole new world out there. but dont be afraid of wats out there because it is only a life lesson....

alice!
LOVED IT!! this book expains alot about the issues teens go through while growing up.. its gritty and down to earth. This explains how wonderful it feels when your on drugs; how your mind is way out of perception but it also explains what happens when drugs become everything in your life and nothing you do can change the urge to resist the need for the release.

- Inappropriate language
- Drinking, smoking, or drug use
- Negative role models
From reading summaries of this book and what not I have decided to put this book back in the library for someone who would like to read about drugs and profanity. It IS sad and I feel that if this book is true, she went through a lot but I do not want to read about this in detail

Great for teenagers, good for adults, bad for kids.
Great book for educational purposes. I read it at age 13 into age 14 and I believe that it should be 13+. Of course the role models are bad and there is bad language and the messages aren't positive... That's what it's all about. Also a good read just for leisure.

Eye Opening
This book has changed my life. I'm in my freshman year of high school, and virtually everyone partakes in drugs or drinking. I've always promised myself that I will never do drugs and will not drink in high school. My brother and sister never did, so I'm always trying to live up to them. However, the no drinking thing gets a little hard when my upper classmen friends share their stories of how fun it is getting tipsy...but after reading this book, I have no desire. Despite the fact that it is about drugs and not alcohol, it has shown me that once you start something like drugs or alcohol, it's extremely hard to stop. It shows the dark side of them. I urge you to have your teenagers read this book before its too late and they fall into the dangerous worlds of drugs and/or alcohol. Now I know I can stay true to my goal.

Alice!
i loved this book. it was great for a person my age, being 17. it did get pretty graphic so i think kids 16 up is about right. parents, this book is very educational. there are some jovial sections in this book that make it alot better than most books about drug use. she didnt plan on falling into a life of drugs, you must remmeber that. she was tricked. i myself went through a life of drugs and hurt and could only imagine what this poor girl went through. 10/10

By far, my favorite book.. clear insight to drug world life.
I'm a seventeen year old, and I read this book when I was just thirteen. I've re-read this book thousands of times. This book gives a clear insight to the life of drugs and how it can affect teenagers, or how it can affect anyone. Parents, your kids should read this book, or you should read it with them incase they have any questions or concerns. Kids you should talk to your parents about this book if you have read it and have any questions. This is by far my favorite book. It's given me insight to what is and what isn't good. As you learn of her struggles you also think of your own. *Remember, if you're having a bad day, there's always someone out there who's having a worse one_[stay happy.]

A realistic and powerful story
I finished reading it and now I can't stop crying. We all know she dies in the end but I just can't get over it. This is very powerful and while it does show drugs are enjoyable, it equally demonstrates that they are not worth it in the long run. I am pleased that this story went the extra step too portray them as detrimental to not only health, but also the world one lives in. I am fifteen.

a book that is to heartbreaking to read in one say.
go ask alice is by far the most saddest story i have ever read. i read the whole book in one day, by the time i was almost done i was overwelmed. whoever published this did the right thing. go ask alice is a book about a girl who goes through the motions of drug use. now i'm only 14, and i thought i knew alot when talking about drugs, (NOT THAT I DO THEM) because i'm one of those people who know that through out my life no matter how hard it gets drugs are wrong. but when i read this story, i couldnt believe somethings that drugs did. i can just imagine the amount of teenagers who saved their lives by reading this book. i think people need to encourage troubled teens to read this book, or read it to them. this book is truly worth reading. sad, but worth it.

best book to prevent drug use
this book could help many teens entering the world of drugs . i'm now 15 but i started doing drugs when i was around 12/13 this book tells the true story of a young good inocent girl that got pulled into the dark. adults tell teens of the dangers of drugs all the time but alot of the time we dont listen, when it comes from the prespective of another teen it tends to get through better . i know that growing up i though i would never get involved with drugs or that if i did i wouldnt get hooked as bad as evey one said but i did and i think if i would have read this book befor i would have though about my actions. i encourage teens to read this book it really opens up your eye . it hit really close to home for me and i would rather it was just a horror story for somebody else because drugs truly do ruin your life and i wish every day of my life that i never got involved

A Great Read for Teens
I really enjoyed this book. It tells the tale of a young teenager (whose name we don't know, but we still know her, and care about her) who gets slipped LSD at a party, and spirals downward into drugs, sex, and other horrible things. The ending is a shocker, and I think that schools should require teens to read it.

Not the most accurate information...
All of the information I have gathered about this book leads me to believe that it contains very few truths at best, and is just about useless for any other purpose than entertainment. If you are planning on reading this book or having your child read it, you might want to educate the reader first. If you are looking for a story about the actual effects of drugs, The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley would be a good choice for learning the subjective effects of psychedelic drugs (not all hallucinogens are the same). Another better alternative to learn about the effects of drugs would be Psychopharmacology: Drugs, the Brain and Behavior by Jerrold S. Meyer (Author), Linda F. Quenzer. Almost any source of information would be more accurate than Beatrice Sparks, the author of Go Ask Alice!
