What to talk about

Talk to your kids

Families can talk about space and kids and parents can play-act their own space adventure. Ready to build a rocket ship? Sofa cushions or a sheet tossed over the kitchen table can serve as a space vehicle. Stuffed animals can be pressed into service as co-pilots.

What's the story?

What's the story?

Curious sheep take off in a (apparently) unmanned spaceship. Rhyming adventures ensue.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Sheep are common characters in kids' picture books probably because they look so loving and fluffy in illustrations. These sheep are no different, being adorable and easily anthromorphized. These sheep find a spaceship and head inside ready to explore the universe. But what happens when space flight ends up being more complicated than they expected? Who will help them now? That's the crux of this rhyming adventure.

There's nothing informative or hugely edifying about this silly little book, but not every book has to have a helpful message. Instead read this one as pure entertainment and revel in the soft, adept illustrations. This is the seventh book in the series, but you don't need to read the others to enjoy this particular adventure.

Books you will not tire of reading aloud several times a day...
A light-hearted book about sheep who are always having adventures that go awry. The rhyming is wonderful - so much better than the majority of those kinds of books out there right now. Plus, the illustrations are beautiful. All of Nancy Shaw's Sheep books should be in your home library - or, at least checked out of your local library often!
