The good stuff

  • Educational value:

Don't take this game to driving school.

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

The African-American character (B.D. Joe) has huge red lips that some families may find offensive. Good taste takes a back seat to entertainment.
  • Violence:

Players are free to drive through, over, and around anything they like, smacking into buildings, cars, and other obstacles.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Some off-color language.
  • Consumerism:

You can drive to the Levi's Store, Pizza Hut, Tower Records, etc.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

This review of Crazy Taxi was written by Michael Ryan

Parents need to know that some passengers cry "Damn it!" when the cabbie rams too many obstacles. And while each of the four cab drivers is stereotyped to some degree, the African-American character is over the top --especially his oversize lips.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about safe driving. Have you ever ridden in a real taxi and felt like one of the passengers in the game? Families can also talk about the stereotyped characters. Are stereotypes ever OK?

More on Crazy Taxi

What’s the Story?

In CRAZY TAXI, players, in the role of cab drivers, pick up and drop off as many passengers as they can before the clock runs out. When the timer expires, drivers are scored for the fares they collected and rated on their overall performance.

Players career around a 3-D cityscape, stopping near color-coded passengers. Those in red circles have short, easy trips; those in yellow circles require longer trips, offering more money and more time off the clock.

Is It Any Good?

Crazy Taxi is aptly named, serving up chaotic driving thrills. The joyride begins almost immediately; kids will have no trouble getting up to speed without even cracking the manual. And no police uphold the rule of law in this city, so players are free to drive through, over, and around anything they like, smacking into buildings, cars, and other obstacles. Some passengers give larger tips for a more exciting ride, while others jump out of the cab when they're too scared. It doesn't exactly teach safe driving habits, but it can be a decent amount of fun.

    One Big Crazy Game!

When I was a very young girl I found my brothers playing this game. One day I played this with the help of my brotherat the age of 5 or 6. After that I never played this game but I always remembered it. When I bought a PSP, one of the first games I installed was Crazy Taxi. I really liked this game. It's fun! Yeah, the language is some times off but it's not that clear. Over-all its really CRAZY and really FUN!

    I love this game!!!

This is one of my favorite playstation 2 games. I just love all the fun challenges and the crazy cars and characters! The content of this game isn't a problem at all, either!
