Why We Rated This not for kids

The good stuff

  • Educational value:

    Absolutely no educational value whatsoever.

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

You control a deviant seeking vengeance against a mercenary group. You'll encounter and kill many police officers along the way.
  • Violence:

Attacks are pretty bloody, employing a variety of guns and grenades. You can also sneak up behind enemies and break their neck or kill them with a punch. Since you're a criminal, your enemies are often police officers.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

This game probably sets the record for use of the "F" word. Expect profanity throughout the dialogue.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

Difficulty levels are named after drugs: Aspirin, codeine, and morphine. When Kane nears death, a teammate must inject him with adrenaline to revive him, but use too much, and it will lead to an overdose. Some missions incorporate drugs as well.

What Parents Need to Know

This review of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men was written by Brett Molina

Parents need to know that this game embraces the criminal world and vicious violence. Since you're on the wrong side of the law, your enemies are often cops, whom you kill. Attacks are pretty bloody, employing a variety of guns and grenades, and you can sneak up behind enemies and break their neck or kill them with a punch. A heavy drug presence permeates a story littered with excessively profane language.

More on Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

What’s the Story?

Hitman developer Io Interactive departs the world of stealth-based action for in-your-face crime drama with KANE & LYNCH: DEAD MEN, a very violent and unoriginal escapade. You control Kane, a lifelong criminal accused of betraying a mercenary group called The 7. The organization abducts his wife and children, threatening to kill them if he doesn't retrieve money they believe Kane stole. To ensure you finish the job, you're escorted by Lynch, a heavily-medicated psychotic. Close

Is It Any Good?

Kane & Lynch easily earns its mature rating, with ferocious, bloody attacks and an excessive use of swear words. Essentially a third-person shooter with some simple squad commands, it is an uninspired, frustrating action experience. For example, to jump into cover, you simply run up to an obstacle. Sounds easy enough, except you have to run into a wall or obstacle a couple times before you "click" into cover.

Targeting is just as irritating. Gunshots seem a hair off almost every time. Computer-controlled players prefer to play hide-and-seek rather than to engage in heated battles. Kane & Lynch showed promise with a strong story, but after a few levels it turns up dead on arrival.

    Good game, but Very Inapropriate

Let me just say that this game is VERY underrated, with people giving it a 1 out of 10. The game is actually pretty good, People! To start out, The Violence gets Brutal. You kill cops, can torture your Partner, can kill Inoccent people, ETC. This game must have set a new record for swearing. You fail a Mission, You swear, You die, you and your Partner Swear, You- Well, you get the Picture. This game has alot of Drugs too. Your Partner is a Drug Addict, And instead of having lives or Checkpoints, you have a drug that brings you back. Once you're out of it, you Reset the Level. The story is Pretty good, Until the stupid Multipul Ending, where both endings suck! Overall, It's a good game, BUT BE 18+ BEFORE PLAYING IT!!!
